Map the empty tree wells and canopy gaps, the 300 block of S Ogden Ave, Hilltop
Empty tree wells on the 300 block of S Ogden Ave, Hilltop are lost shade nobody is tracking. A one-pass map of every empty, stumped or dying well turns "the street feels hot" into a plantable list the city and neighbors can fund. Standard: SDG 11.7 green public space + i-Tree canopy assessment protocol. Proof: Geotagged photo of every well on the block + Compiled well inventory (status, clearance, wires) + City planting-request submission reference Method (SDG 11.7 green public space + i-Tree canopy assessment protocol.): 1. Walk both sides of the block and photograph every tree well: occupied/healthy, struggling, stump, or empty. 2. Record each well's GPS point, sidewalk-clearance width, and overhead-wire situation. 3. Compile the plantable list (empty + stump wells with adequate clearance) with photos. 4. Submit the list to the city street-tree request channel and log the request reference. Done when: Geotagged photo of every well on the block + Compiled well inventory (status, clearance, wires) + City planting-request submission reference
How this work is done

Bring
- GPS phone
- DBH tape or measuring tape
- tree ID reference
- camera
- hi-vis vest
Steps
- 1. Walk the corridor; record a GPS waypoint at each tree.

- 3. Record species (best estimate), condition class (good/fair/poor/dead), and DBH (diameter at breast height).
- 4. Count vacant planting sites.
- 5. Enter the per-tree records, vacant-site count, GPS, photos into the proof record; sign.
If it does not match the plan
- Dead or hazardous tree observed -> flag for the responsible agency (no removal by surveyor).
