- Detach the duct at the dryer connection so both ends of the run are open.

- Hold the shop vacuum at each duct opening in turn and draw out the loosened lint.
- Bag the lint, note the volume and photograph it.
- Reattach the duct to the dryer and reconnect the dryer to power.
- Open and close the exterior damper by hand to check it moves freely, then photograph it.
