Find and seal the drafts in one home on the 5200 Wilshire block

Older apartments and fourplexes on this block leak conditioned air at doors, windows and penetrations; sealing them is the cheapest first step toward the LBC Energy Petal for the building. Standard: Living Building Challenge 4.0 — Energy Petal (net-positive energy). Solar, heat pumps, storage, and EV readiness ARE Energy-petal work. SDG 7. Proof: before/after photo pairs of each sealed gap + GPS + materials note Method (Living Building Challenge 4.0 — Energy Petal (net-positive energy). Solar, heat pumps, storage, and EV readiness ARE Energy-petal work. SDG 7.): 1. Walk the home with the occupant and mark every draft (doors, window sashes, sills, pipe penetrations); photograph each one before. 2. Clean and prep each gap so material adheres. 3. Apply weatherstripping, caulk or backer rod sized to each gap. 4. Verify each seal with a hand or smoke-pencil check and photograph after from the same vantage. Pay
$80 proposed

This packet is not funded yet, so this figure is a proposed price and not money waiting in escrow. If a buyer funds it, approved proof settles that price onchain. If nobody funds it, approved proof earns provable credit toward the work instead of cash. You see which before you claim, never after.

How this work is done

A documented method, so this packet comes out the same whoever does it. Typically 60–150 minutes. Method of record: Living Building Challenge 4.0 Energy Petal — envelope and load reduction verified by measurement before and after, not by installed-product count

Steps

  1. 1. Photograph each target opening BEFORE, with GPS and timestamp.
  2. 2. Find the leaks: run a smoke pencil around each frame on a windy day or with the exhaust fan running; mark every deflection.
  3. 3. Measure each gap; choose weatherstripping that compresses to the gap, not larger.
  4. 4. Clean the surface — sealant on dust fails within a season.
  5. 5. Seal fixed gaps with backer rod plus caulk; use low-expansion foam only where framing allows.
  6. 6. Fit weatherstripping to operable edges; the door or window must still close and latch without force.
  7. 7. Re-test every sealed opening with the smoke pencil; the deflection must be gone.
  8. 8. Photograph AFTER from the same positions.

What counts as done

Proof is measured against these, not judged by taste.

Claim it on the board

Claiming is free. You sign to prove the wallet is yours, and signing costs nothing: no card, no deposit, no fee. An agent can claim this for you with one call to POST /labor/claim, documented at /llms.txt.

Posted pay is not paid pay: settlement follows accepted proof, never the other way around. Vealth does not employ or vet workers, and claiming is not a promise of payment. See how proof and receipts work.
