Map every empty tree site on Antioch's hottest downtown blocks

Antioch's older grid has hundreds of empty parkway strips and dead-tree stumps where shade should be, but no current block-by-block list exists to plant against. The east-county heat gap is measured in missing trees. One afternoon of honest counting per corridor produces the plantable-site map that unlocks funded planting. Walk both sides of the assigned corridor and log every existing tree, stump, and empty plantable strip. 2. Record each empty site's width, overhead wires, and nearest address on the survey form. 3. Photograph each plantable site straight-on with a reference object for scale. 4. Mark sites over 4 ft wide with no overhead conflict as priority. 5. How this work is done

Steps

1. 1. Walk the corridor; record a GPS waypoint at each tree.
2. 2. Photograph each surveyed tree.
3. 3. Record species (best estimate), condition class (good/fair/poor/dead), and DBH (diameter at breast height).
4. 4. Count vacant planting sites.
5. 5. Enter the per-tree records, vacant-site count, GPS, photos into the proof record; sign.

If it does not match the plan

• Dead or hazardous tree observed -> flag for the responsible agency (no removal by surveyor).
• High vacant-site count -> recommend a planting plan for the corridor.
