Map the empty tree sites on Red Bluff's hottest bare blocks

Red Bluff is one of the hottest towns in California — summer runs weeks above 100°F — and its lowest-income blocks have the least shade, which shows up directly in cooling bills and heat illness. Before planting crews can work, someone has to walk the bare blocks and map every plantable site, existing tree, and empty cut. That map is this job. Walk each assigned block face and photograph the streetscape. 2. Record every existing street tree with condition, every empty planting cut, and every plantable parkway gap. 3. Note overhead wires, hydrants, driveways, and signs that constrain each site. 4. Mark GPS for each plantable site on the shared map or sheet. 5. Steps

1. 1. Walk the corridor; record a GPS waypoint at each tree.
2. 2. Photograph each surveyed tree.
3. 3. Record species (best estimate), condition class (good/fair/poor/dead), and DBH (diameter at breast height).
4. 4. Count vacant planting sites.
5. 5. Enter the per-tree records, vacant-site count, GPS, photos into the proof record; sign.

If it does not match the plan

• Dead or hazardous tree observed -> flag for the responsible agency (no removal by surveyor).
• High vacant-site count -> recommend a planting plan for the corridor.
