- Photograph each unshaded bank segment from the accessible bank so the bare stretch and its surroundings are both in frame.
- Mark a GPS waypoint at the start and at the end of every unshaded gap.
- Pace or tape the length of each unshaded gap from the bank and write the length beside its waypoints.
- Rank the gaps from the longest bare stretch to the shortest.
- For each gap on the ranked list, name the follow-on invasive-cane-removal job and the follow-on willow-staking job it needs.
- Enter the photos, gap lengths, start and end waypoints and the ranked follow-on list into the proof record and sign it.
