  1. 1. Walk the dry, accessible top of the public Pecos River bank at this reach and photograph the invasive saltcedar (tamarisk) or giant cane stand as found.
  2. 2. Hand-pull small stems and seedlings by the root; for larger saltcedar stems, cut at the base and treat the cut per the site's approved invasive-control protocol, staying on dry ground the whole time.
  3. 3. Never enter the water or a saturated, unstable bank edge; a two-person minimum works within sight of each other near the water's edge.
