Keep a weekly flight-path and freeway air diary from public sidewalks in Lennox (2026-08-03)
Keep a weekly flight-path and freeway air diary from public sidewalks in Lennox…. Fund it for $160. Proof lands on-chain when it's done.
Lennox sits directly under the LAX arrival path and against the 105 and 405 freeways, a square mile of homes inside a ring of jet and diesel exhaust. A fixed-point weekly diary of aircraft passes, truck counts, odor, dust, and public sensor readings builds the small unincorporated community's own air record. Standard: South Coast AQMD community monitoring practice near LAX; SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being). Proof: Weekly two-point diary with photos Method (South Coast AQMD community monitoring practice near LAX; SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being).): 1. Observe from the same two public sidewalk points at the same hour weekly. 2. Count aircraft passes overhead and trucks on the boulevard for ten timed minutes each. 3. Note odor, haze, dust, wind, and the nearest public air-sensor reading. 4. Complete one diary sheet per visit and keep the running file. 5. Photograph the sky line and street from each point plus the sheet, with date and GPS. Done when: Photo of the completed diary sheet; Photos from both fixed observation points; GPS-tagged timestamped photo at each point
How this work is done
A documented method, so this packet comes out the same whoever does it. Typically 45–90 minutes. Method of record: EPA NAAQS community ambient-air screening (PM2.5)
Bring
- calibrated PM2.5 monitor
- GPS phone
- wind/weather note source
- hi-vis vest
- camera
Steps
- 1. Choose >=3 points (near-source/roadside, mid, background); record GPS at each; stay off the roadway.
- 2. Photograph each monitoring location.
- 3. Log PM2.5 (ug/m3) at each point over a comparable peak period.
- 4. Record wind direction, time, and nearby source activity (e.g., truck traffic).
- 5. Compare readings to the NAAQS reference.
- 6. Enter the PM2.5 logs, wind/time, source note, GPS, photos into the proof record; sign.
If it does not match the plan
- Roadside work near heavy traffic -> stay off travel lanes; hi-vis at all times.
- Near-source PM2.5 well above background and NAAQS -> flag an environmental-justice exposure concern.
What counts as done
- Photo of the completed diary sheet
- Photos from both fixed observation points
- GPS-tagged timestamped photo at each point
Proof is measured against these, not judged by taste.
