Steps
- 1. Confirm current public access rules and any seasonal hunting closures with Gus Engeling Wildlife Management Area staff before visiting, and check in at the headquarters/check-in station as required of all visitors; wear blaze orange during any open hunting season.
- 2. From the trailhead, photograph the existing 'stay on the trail' interpretive sign (or the absence of one) and note fade, damage, or a missing panel.
- 3. Note whether the sign clearly explains why the trail tread must be kept to (peat bog sensitivity) in plain language.
- 4. Record a ranked follow on note naming the trailhead for the WMA's signage program. This work never cores, samples, or disturbs the peat or moss substrate in any way, and never collects a plant specimen; this is trail-tread and upland-buffer observation and hand work only.
