This work never enters, wades in, dips a hand, tool, or any gear into, drinks from, or otherwise disturbs the water or sediment of a hueco basin at any skill level, and never enters any other pool or standing water on site. A hueco's dry season sediment holds dormant eggs of specialized crustaceans that survive years of drought in the dust of the basin floor; a boot print or hand print in a dry basin is real, lasting damage even when the basin looks empty and lifeless. All observation happens from the established trail, at a stand off distance from the basin rim.
