Steps

The ecoregion and general site of origin of every collected seed lot is recorded at the moment of collection and travels with that lot, on its label, through cleaning, increase, and storage; collected seed is never moved outside the ecoregion it came from at any stage, because local adaptation only works if the seed stays local.
