No headstone, marker, or monument is ever touched, cleaned, repaired, reset, or rubbed at any point in this job; monument conservation is a separate, specialist trade and is never part of this work. Photographs record vegetation and ground condition only and never include a legible individual name or a mourner. This job never digs, probes, or cores into the ground at any point, for any reason, at any skill level; a fence post that needs a new hole is a separate job that only proceeds on the cemetery authority's own direction. Any depression, sunken patch, or unstable ground encountered is walked around, never stepped on or filled, and is reported to the cemetery authority. Texas summer heat is real even into the evening; carry more water than you think you need, wear sun protection and light colored breathable clothing, work in early morning or late afternoon where possible, and take shade breaks. Unmown cemetery ground can hide fire ants, ticks, chiggers, poison ivy, and snakes; wear closed-toe shoes and long pants tucked into boots or socks, check for ticks after fieldwork, and give any snake a wide path rather than approaching it.

- 1. Coordinate the visit date and time with the cemetery authority (the City of Hillsboro's cemetery department) before entering, and confirm no service is scheduled.
- 2. Walk the mowed paths and photograph the general ground cover in the older section along the back fence line without stepping off any established path or onto any grave surface.
- 3. Note whether the cover looks like mowed turf grass, a mixed native-looking grass and forb stand, or bare/eroded ground, in plain language, with no species identification claimed.
- 4. Walk around, never step on, any sunken or unstable-looking ground and note its general location for the cemetery authority; record a ranked follow-on note naming the zone for the mow-calendar and woody-clearing work below.

What is promised, and what is not
