Steps

- Where the hinge or flap itself is bent, corroded, or the spring is broken, straighten or replace the hood's flap and hinge hardware with a same-size hardware-store replacement, keeping the same vent-pipe diameter.
- Test the flap by hand several times to confirm it now swings fully open and returns fully closed on its own, then photograph it in both positions.
