Steps
- Unplug the dryer from its outlet, or confirm with the resident that the breaker feeding it is off, before doing any work behind or underneath it.
- With the resident present, using furniture sliders under the front feet or a two-person lift, pull the dryer straight out from the wall a short distance, keeping it upright and never tilting it more than a slight lean.
- Inspect the flexible or semi-rigid duct section connecting the dryer to the wall vent. Where it is crushed or kinked flat, reshape it back to a full round profile by hand, or loosen the hose clamps and swap the crushed segment for a same-diameter replacement duct piece, using hose clamps only, no fasteners driven into the wall or floor.
- Slide the dryer back to the wall leaving the manufacturer's clearance gap so the duct is not immediately re-crushed, plug it back in, and photograph the restored duct run and the reconnected power cord.
