Drill, plug, and wax-seal a rested hardwood log with mushroom spawn.

Fund it for $75. Proof lands onchain when it's done.

$75 proposed

This packet is not funded yet, so this figure is a proposed price and not money waiting in escrow. If a buyer funds it, approved proof settles that price onchain. If nobody funds it, approved proof earns provable credit toward the work instead of cash. You see which before you claim, never after.

Claiming is free. You sign to prove the wallet is yours: no card, no deposit, no fee.

What the work involves

The rested log now needs the actual mushroom spawn installed before anything can grow on it: a diamond pattern of holes drilled into the wood, a labelled plug of commercial spawn inserted into each hole, and every hole sealed with melted wax so it never dries out or lets a competing organism in first.

Proof
resident permission record plus spawn species/lot recorded from the sealed bag plus drill-pattern photo plus plugged-and-waxed log photo plus hole count matched to plug count

This is exactly what gets it approved. Nothing settles without it.

How this work is done

A documented method, so this packet comes out the same whoever does it.

Steps

  1. 1. Confirm the log completed its full rest period, put on eye protection, and mark a diamond pattern of drill points around the log roughly 6 inches apart lengthwise and 2 inches apart around the circumference, working entirely at ground level on a log braced so it cannot roll.
  2. 2. Using a hand or cordless drill only, drill each marked point to the plug-spawn manufacturer's specified depth and diameter, never a powered angle grinder or any tool beyond a hand or cordless drill.
  3. 3. Immediately insert one labelled plug of commercial spawn (species and lot recorded from the sealed spawn bag) into each drilled hole and tap it flush with the bark, working in a shaded spot so the spawn is never left exposed to direct sun or wind.
  4. 4. Melt cheese wax or food-grade paraffin in a dedicated pot on a portable burner set on stable, level, nonflammable ground away from any dry brush, and dab the melted wax over every plugged hole with a small brush, sealing each one completely before moving to the next log.

What counts as done

  • Written or recorded permission from the resident
  • Spawn species and lot number recorded directly from the sealed commercial spawn bag
  • Photo of the diamond drill pattern on the log before plugging
  • Photo of the finished log with every hole plugged and wax-sealed
  • Confirmation that the hole count matched the plug count exactly, with zero holes left unsealed

Proof is measured against these, not judged by taste.

The standard this serves

Edible Garden Cultivation. Edible garden cultivation is food growing done to the standards the land-grant universities have refined for a century: healthy soil in tested beds, the right crop in the right season, hand tools, patience, and records. Mastery looks like a Master Gardener's plot, beds that feed a family most of the year from a piece of ground the size of a parking space. Every gardener who reaches that point started with a single bed and a single season. This packet is that start: one bed built or tended properly, one honest note about what happened.

The money and the proof

What is promised, and what is not.

Funding this work is a purchase or a vote, same act: you either want this done here, or you want the world to contain it. A vote is free and signed; funding starts at one cent and anything beyond the wage is recorded as a premium for the worker. Either way the money settles only on accepted proof. An agent can fund it in one x402 call: POST /nurture/fund {"workId":"WORK_1786673744342_m0gz7rg","funderWallet":"0xYOU"}.

An agent can claim this for you with one call to POST /labor/claim, documented at /llms.txt.

Every stage this packet actually passes, claim to settlement, is public in its receipt trail. A stage that has not happened is not claimed.

Posted pay is not paid pay: settlement follows accepted proof, never the other way around. Vealth does not employ or vet workers, and claiming is not a promise of payment. See how proof and receipts work.
