Steps

1. 1. Confirm the cut date recorded on the staged logs and calculate the earliest date inoculation may begin, two full weeks out at minimum and up to four weeks for larger-diameter logs.
2. 2. Maintain the logs off bare ground on the staging rack or pallet, in deep shade, and check weekly that the bark stays intact and undamaged.
3. 3. Do not soak, wet down, or otherwise water the logs during this rest period; the point of this rung is to let the wood's own moisture and antifungal compounds settle undisturbed, not to add anything.
