1. 1. Walk to the headcut on stable, dry ground and photograph it before starting, noting its approximate height and how far it appears to have cut back.
2. 2. Confirm permission and any permit requirement exactly as described in this rung's safety notes before placing a single rock.
3. 3. Hand carry native rock sized to the flow, fist sized to roughly cinder block sized, and build a shallow rock lined step pool basin directly beneath the headcut drop, keyed a few inches into the surrounding soil by hand, never dug or cut below the existing channel bed.
4. 4. Confirm the finished structure is knee height or lower and photograph it from the same before vantage.
