Steps

  1. Write the job hazard analysis for the day's tasks before anyone arrives: tools in use, terrain, traffic, heat forecast, nearest emergency department by address and drive time.
  2. Set the first-aid point and water station before the briefing, stocked and visible.
  3. Lead the opening safety briefing: the day's hazards, the PPE that answers each, the muster word, and who to find when something happens.
  4. Check PPE at the start and rounds through the day; correct gaps as found.
  5. Make the heat and weather call at set times and adjust the work or stop it; the call is the safety lead's alone.
  6. Log anything that happens, including the near misses, and close the day with a two-minute debrief.

  • The job hazard analysis written before the event, dated
  • Photo of the briefing and the stocked first-aid point
  • The day's safety log: PPE checks, weather calls, and any events, GPS inside the posting radius
