- 2. 用手工缝隙刀连根挑出缝内杂草，从缝口向外取，不撬动石块。 | Lift each weed out of the joint with a hand joint knife, working outward from the joint mouth and never levering a stone.
- 3. 用硬毛刷把缝内残根和泥垢刷出，石阶面上的苔藓一并刷掉。 | Brush the remaining roots and silt out of the joints with a stiff brush and take the moss off the step faces at the same time.
- 4. 把清出的草根与泥垢全部收走，不留在河埠或推入河中。 | Collect every root and all the silt and carry it away, leaving nothing on the landing and pushing nothing into the canal.
- 5. 记录已被顶开、需要专业修缮的砌缝位置并上报，不自行填缝。 | Record and report the joints already pushed open that need skilled repointing, and never repoint them yourself.
