Steps

1. Select a representative sample of the flock using a stated method and record the sample size.
2. Gently restrain each sampled bird and score feather loss 0-2 at the head/neck region per the AssureWel descriptions.
3. Score feather loss 0-2 at the back/vent region the same way.
4. Inspect each sampled bird for active pecking injuries and vent wounds and record any found.
5. Check for red mite signs at night, or by inspecting perch ends and vent feathers in daylight, and record findings.
6. Compare the round's scores to the prior audit's when one exists.
7. Route flagged findings: a management or husbandry fix named for feather loss or mite signs, or a veterinary consult named for injured or sick birds.
8. Enter the sample method, per-bird scores, injury/mite findings, and routing into the proof record; sign.
