Broiler/meat-bird gait score (Bristol 0-5 scale) — flock / national.

Fund it for $140. Proof lands onchain when it's done.

$140 proposed

This packet is not funded yet, so this figure is a proposed price and not money waiting in escrow. If a buyer funds it, approved proof settles that price onchain. If nobody funds it, approved proof earns provable credit toward the work instead of cash — recorded, and readable any time at vealth.net/labor/credit/(your wallet). What the work involves

Fast-growing broiler strains commonly carry lameness rates keepers never measure: published surveys using the Bristol gait-scoring scale found 14-50% of conventional broiler flocks scoring 3-5 (impaired-to-unable-to-walk) at market age (Kestin et al. 1992), and lame birds have been shown to self-select an analgesic over plain feed — meaning gait score is a pain signal, not a cosmetic one (Danbury et al. 2000). A five-minute walk-and-score turns 'the birds look fine' into a number a keeper can act on before suffering compounds.

Proof
A dated flock gait-score round: sample size/method, per-bird Bristol 0-5 score, contact-dermatitis welfare signs noted, flock distribution and share scoring ≥3 recorded and compared to the prior round, with every ≥4 or pain-signal bird routed

This is exactly what gets it approved. Nothing settles without it.

How this work is done

A documented method, so this packet comes out the same whoever does it.

Bring

  • A flat, unobstructed walking area (about 2 m) inside or beside the coop/run
  • The published Bristol 0-5 gait-score descriptions/photos
  • A sampling plan and tally sheet
  • Prior audit scores for trend

Steps

  1. 1. State the sample: whole flock for small backyard keeps, or a representative sample for larger meat-bird flocks; record the number scored.
  2. 2. Encourage each sampled bird to walk about 2 m across a flat, unobstructed area without chasing or startling it; observe from the side.
  3. 3. Assign the Bristol 0-5 gait score per bird from the published descriptions: 0 (normal, agile) through 5 (unable to walk/stand); do not average — record each bird's own score.
  4. 4. Note visible contributors while scoring: hock burn, breast blisters, or footpad dermatitis (contact-dermatitis welfare signs that often travel with poor gait).
  5. 5. Record the flock distribution (count per score 0-5) and the share scoring 3 or above.
  6. 6. Compare to the prior audit; a rising share of 3+ scores is a management/genetics flag, not something to wait out.
  7. 7. Route findings: any individual bird scoring 4-5, or showing pain signs (reluctance to move to feed/water, isolating), separated and routed per the decision rules; flock-level rising lameness routes to a management/genetics review.

What counts as done

  • Sample size and sampling method stated; every sampled bird scored individually 0-5 on the Bristol scale
  • Contact-dermatitis welfare signs (hock burn, breast blister, footpad dermatitis) recorded alongside gait score
  • Flock-level score distribution and the share scoring 3 or above recorded, compared against the prior round when one exists
  • Any bird scoring 4-5, or showing pain/isolation behavior, routed to a veterinarian or humane on-farm euthanasia per the decision rules

Proof is measured against these, not judged by taste.

The money and the proof

What is promised, and what is not.

Funding this work is a purchase or a vote, same act: you either want this done here, or you want the world to contain it. A vote is free and signed; funding starts at one cent and anything beyond the wage is recorded as a premium for the worker. Either way the money settles only on accepted proof. An agent can fund it in one x402 call: POST /nurture/fund {"workId":"WORK_1788120016289_1qaq93n","funderWallet":"0xYOU"}.

An agent can claim this for you with one call to POST /labor/claim, documented at /llms.txt.

Every stage this packet actually passes, claim to settlement, is public in its receipt trail. A stage that has not happened is not claimed.

Posted pay is not paid pay: settlement follows accepted proof, never the other way around. Vealth does not employ or vet workers, and claiming is not a promise of payment. See how proof and receipts work.
