Steps

  1. 1. Before arrival, review the clean-hands/dirty-hands protocol; avoid fast food, cosmetics, and waterproof/Teflon gear that day.
  2. 2. Navigate to the point; record GPS; photograph the source.
  3. 3. Don powderless nitrile gloves; keep all fluoropolymer (PTFE/Teflon) away from the sample.
  4. 4. Collect the sample into the HDPE bottle per Method 537.1; do NOT rinse with sample water.
  5. 5. Collect a field blank alongside using the lab-provided water.
  6. 6. Cool immediately; complete the chain-of-custody; ship to the accredited lab within the hold time.
  7. 7. Record GPS, time, photos, blank, and COC number in the proof record; sign.
