Steps

1. 1. Check in with the demolition contractor's competent person; confirm scope, don PPE, and confirm you observe-and-document only, you never enter a structurally compromised structure, never authorize demolition, and never disturb suspect materials.

4. 4. Hazardous materials: verify the hazardous-material determination is on file, including the NESHAP pre-demolition asbestos survey, and that any chemicals/gases/flammables in pipes or tanks were purged or controlled before work (§1926.850(f)); never sample or disturb suspect material yourself.
