Set a permanent marker (rebar/stake) at the transect origin and record its GPS coordinate precisely.
Lay the transect tape/line per the EOV protocol's fixed length and orientation.
Photograph the transect line from the marker in all four cardinal directions for the baseline record.
Log the marker coordinate, transect length/orientation, and baseline bare-ground percentage estimate.
