Steps

1. 1. Walk the set-back trail-edge margin with the BLM/State-Parks planting plan; photograph the bare, wind-eroded dune surface as found, staying on the established trail tread.
2. 2. Dig small planting holes by hand at the spacing the plan calls for, working from the trail edge inland -- never on the seaward face of an active dune scarp.
3. 3. Set native dune-grass plugs (e.g. Leymus mollis / American dunegrass) at the correct depth, firm the sand around each plug, and water in if a hose bib/carried water is available.
4. 4. Photograph the finished planting from the matching before vantage and record species/count planted.
