Steps

1. 1. Walk the established trail tread and photograph the iceplant (Carpobrotus) mat as found before removal.
2. 2. Hand-pull the iceplant mat from the trail tread and the safe, set-back margin, rolling it as you go to keep root fragments from re-rooting; never step off the established trail onto unstable dune slope to reach a patch.
3. 3. Bag all pulled iceplant material for removal (it re-roots from fragments left on the ground) -- do not leave cut/pulled material on site.
4. 4. Photograph the cleared trail margin from the matching before vantage and record the approximate area cleared.
