Steps

1. Photograph the rills and runoff lines after inspecting the drainage pattern; mark check-dam and basin sites with flags.
2. Build one-rock-high check dams across rills (single course, keyed into the bed, never taller than one rock).
3. Dig crescent microcatchment basins on contour above planting spots; berm the downhill lip with the spoil.
4. Photograph each structure from matching vantage and log GPS per structure.
5. After the next rain (or a poured bucket test), photograph water held behind representative structures.
