Steps

1. 1. Stand only on public road right-of-way or a public vantage. Enter no district, private or tribal land, and do not approach or touch the canal, its banks, gates, fencing or any panel.
2. 2. Record the GPS waypoint, the time, the air temperature, the sky condition and the wind from a named weather source.
3. 3. Photograph the shaded span and an unshaded control span of the same canal from the same vantage, with a scale object in frame.
4. 4. Read surface temperature in the shaded span and in the unshaded control span with the SAME instrument, three readings each, and record the instrument model.
5. 5. Record the operating district's own published evaporation or performance result with its address and date, or mark it not published.
6. 6. Publish the readings, the photographs, the control comparison and the district citation together, claiming no evaporation saving of your own.

What counts as done
