What the work involves

Santa Rosa learned in 2017 that wind-blown embers from a fire miles away can burn a city neighborhood, and Roseland's older, closely-spaced homes with dry side yards and debris-filled gutters share the same vulnerabilities that decided which houses survived. A photo survey of each invited home's ignition points (gutters, vents, fence lines, stored fuels) gives the household its prioritized hardening list.

  2. Photograph gutters, attic and crawl vents, fence-to-wall junctions, woodpiles, and vegetation within 5 feet of walls.
