What the work involves

Eating alone is common and, per the JAGES cohort, was linked to a 19-48% higher mortality hazard for older men depending on living arrangement (Tani 2018). A standing table where an isolated adult is expected and welcomed is hospitality nobody is paid to host.

This packet is not funded yet, so this figure is a proposed price and not money waiting in escrow. If a buyer funds it, approved proof settles that price onchain. If nobody funds it, approved proof earns provable credit toward the work instead of cash — recorded, and readable any time at vealth.net/labor/credit/(your wallet). You see which before you claim, never after.

Proof
hosting log for the weekly table (date, duration ≥90 min, number of guests, what was served) + UCLA 3-item total (3-9) recorded for each guest new to the table + one concrete connection option offered + red flags recorded absent or routed (988 / APS / clinician / emergency)

This is exactly what gets it approved. Nothing settles without it.

How this work is done

A documented method, so this packet comes out the same whoever does it.

Bring

  • the 3-item UCLA Loneliness Scale on paper or phone (three items, each scored 1 hardly ever / 2 some of the time / 3 often)
  • a printed list of local connection resources (senior center, faith or community groups, library programs, social-prescribing or 211 line — a free 24/7 referral line covering 99% of the US population, and the way to find the local Adult Protective Services number when it isn't already known) and the
  • a meal for the table (host-prepared or coordinated potluck) and a simple food-allergy/dietary-restriction check sheet
  • a hosting log (date, duration, number of guests, what was served, each guest's own words on what they want next time)

Steps

  1. 1. Set a standing weekly time and a real, accessible place (a home, a community room, a senior center, a faith or civic hall); invite adults known to eat alone through word of mouth, a senior center, or a referral — never door-to-door solicitation implying a medical need.
  2. 2. Before the first meal, ask each guest about food allergies and dietary restrictions and log them; accommodate what is practical, and be explicit that this is ordinary hosting practice, not a therapeutic diet.
  3. 3. Host the meal at a shared table: unhurried conversation, no forms first, no agenda beyond company and food.
  4. 4. For each guest new to the table, when it fits naturally, ask the three UCLA items (lack companionship, feel left out, feel isolated) and record the total (3-9); say it is a conversation starter, not a test.
  5. 5. Ask what connection each guest would want beyond the dinner (a standing seat, a ride to the next one, another local group) and offer one concrete option, making a warm handoff where the guest agrees.
  6. 6. Note anything that is not a host's to handle (see the decision rules) and route it; log the hosting session; each guest's own score belongs to them, never posted or shared without their consent.

What counts as done

  • The table was hosted for at least 90 minutes with at least one guest who eats alone, logged with date and what was served
  • UCLA 3-item Loneliness Scale total (3-9) recorded for each guest new to the table, with the date
  • Food-allergy and dietary-restriction check completed before serving, logged
  • Every decision-rule red flag recorded as absent or routed as the rule says

Proof is measured against these, not judged by taste.

The money and the proof

What is promised, and what is not.

Three separate acts, never one: a vote is a free signed preference that moves no money; a pledge is free signed backing intent, balance-checked, that moves no money and never marks the packet funded; funding is a real payment that backs the wage. Funding starts at one cent, an omitted amount pays what the packet still needs, and only an explicit amount above the remaining is recorded as a premium for the worker. Money settles only on accepted proof. An agent can fund it in one x402 call: POST /nurture/fund {"workId":"WORK_1788498065628_wj3sngn","funderWallet":"0xYOU"}.

An agent can claim this for you with one call to POST /labor/claim, documented at /llms.txt.

Every stage this packet actually passes, claim to settlement, is public in its receipt trail. A stage that has not happened is not claimed.

Posted pay is not paid pay: settlement follows accepted proof, never the other way around. Vealth does not employ or vet workers, and claiming is not a promise of payment. See how proof and receipts work.
