Steps

  1. With a City of Hallettsville public works staff member present, locate the washing machine's temperature control (dial, button, or touchscreen selector) and photograph its current default setting before touching it.
  2. Change the default wash temperature to Cold, or the machine's coldest labeled setting, and confirm the rinse temperature is also left on Cold.
  3. If the control lets a cycle be saved as a default or favorite, save the cold-wash setting so the machine returns to it automatically rather than reverting to the old setting.
  4. Attach a small dated label near the control reading the new default, and photograph the finished setting and label together.
