  2. Cut ivy vines at shoulder and ankle height around each affected tree and peel the ring free by hand.
  3. Grub out blackberry canes and roots with hand tools in the marked zone, chemical-free.
  4. Pile removed vegetation at the marked collection point.
  5. Photograph freed trees and the cleared zone before and after, GPS-tagged and dated.
