- Photograph the dump pile in place before touching it, from the public shoulder.
- Sort what is safe to handle with gloves: furniture, bagged trash, tires, scrap wood.
- Leave any drums, unlabeled containers, needles, or suspected hazardous material untouched and photograph them for a report to Humboldt County Environmental Health.
- Load the safe debris and take it to the Hawthorne Street transfer station during open hours.
- Photograph the cleared site and the disposal receipt.
