- 2. Confirm the sign footing location with site staff and stays entirely on the public trail or road verge, never inside the pasture. Shackelford County is almost entirely private ranchland; this work is confined to Fort Griffin State Historic Site's public grounds and trails, the US 283 public road right of way, public building grounds, or a resident's own home with the resident's consent, and never enters, crosses, or approaches private ranch land without an owner's direct permission, which this work does not have.
- 3. Set the interpretive sign post and mount the panel explaining the fence-line contrast method to a visitor, hand tools only, working from the public side of the fence at all times.
- 4. Photograph the finished, mounted, legible sign and confirm no animal was approached during the work.
