Steps
- Unplug the refrigerator from the wall outlet before any work behind or underneath it, then, with a City of Floresville public works staff member present, using furniture sliders under the front feet or a two-person lift, pull it straight out a short distance, keeping it upright and never tilting it more than a slight lean, and never pulling it by the door handle.
- Confirm the manufacturer's clearance spec, commonly printed on a label inside the unit or in its manual; if no label is found, use the standard minimum of about 1 inch on the sides and top and 2 to 3 inches behind.
- Set the unit back at the confirmed clearance gap using spacer blocks or a tape-marked stop point rather than pushing it flat against the wall again, and confirm nothing (curtains, cabinetry, stored boxes) blocks the top vent.
- Plug the unit back in, measure and photograph the final gap with a tape measure visible, and record the clearance distance used.
