Steps
- 1. Walk the perimeter from public ground and give every street tree and every protected tree a GPS point, a whole-tree photo and a species if known. Note whether protection fencing is present and whole, whether the trunk is wrapped, and whether the root zone has been cut, driven over or piled with soil.
- 2. Photograph any damage close (a struck trunk, cut roots, broken limbs, a missing or fallen fence) and file it with the city's forestry authority, one filing per tree, recording the reference number beside the tree in the log.
- 3. For a parkway planting, confirm the city's parkway rule for that street, the adjacent owner's written permission, and an honored 811 locate for any digging below a hand trowel. Mark every driveway and crossing sight triangle and keep it clear.
- 4. Plant the strip with regionally native low-water plants that stay under the rule's height, spaced to their mature size, mulch two to three inches kept off the stems, and water in deeply. Photograph the strip before and after with GPS points at both ends and record its length in feet.
- 5. Publish the log or the planting record with its photos, counts, reference numbers and permissions, and anchor its content hash via vealth.net/anchor. A tree inside a protection fence is documented through the fence and never touched.
