Steps
- 1. Confirm the treatment segment with Texas Parks and Wildlife park staff and photograph the mesquite and juniper encroached or bare prairie segment before starting.
- 2. Hand-clear invasive mesquite and juniper seedlings and litter from the segment with hand tools only, no power equipment.
- 3. Hand-plant native mixed-grass prairie plugs (little bluestem, sideoats grama, switchgrass) at the design spacing to restore the prairie structure.
- 4. Water in the new plantings where accessible and photograph the restored segment from the matching before vantage, recording species and count.
