Steps
- 1. ASSESS: measure the failed step's rise/run against the adjacent steps and the sidewalk grade; photograph the failure; confirm no utility lines run through the work area.
- 2. Remove the broken/spalled material down to sound substrate; form the new step edge to match the original rise/run.
- 3. Place and finish the new concrete/mortar to a level, non-slip surface, matching the adjacent step heights within a safe tolerance.
- 4. Cure per spec (barricade the stoop from use during cure) and verify the finished step's rise/run and level with a level and tape measure.
- 5. Photograph the finished, cured step from the same before vantage and remove the barricade only once fully cured.
