Steps
- Get the facilities committee's consent before starting work at the home.
- Photograph the bare tap before any work begins.
- Shut off the water supply to the tap.
- Install the NSF/ANSI-certified point-of-use filter on the tap per the manufacturer's instructions.
- Photograph the filter's NSF/ANSI certification nameplate.
- Turn the water supply back on.
- Photograph the installed filter and run the tap for the first-flow test.
- Record the before-and-after photos, the nameplate photo, and the first-flow test result as the completed proof set.

The standard this serves
Drinking Water Safety. Drinking water safety rests on hard numbers: the EPA and the World Health Organization publish exact limits for lead, bacteria, nitrates, and the rest, the line between water that is safe and water that only looks safe.
