All of it: the words, the place, the proof

Scrape and steam every gum spot off the walk, one block face at a time. Gum that has been walked on for years turns black and bonds to the concrete, and a broom or a hose will not move it. On the street edge of Pershing Square along Hill Street, 5th Street, Olive Street and 6th Street, including the station's street entrances, Los Angeles, count the gum spots in two marked 100 square foot test patches, scrape the loose gum by hand, then lift the bonded gum with low pressure hot water or a steam lance. Catch the scrapings and all wash water with a berm and a wet vacuum, so none reaches the gutter or a storm inlet, and recount the same two patches when you finish. Stop at belongings, a tent or bedding on the walk: do not touch or move them, never ask a person to move, and file them on MyLA311, the City of Los Angeles service request line. For the payer: - Price: $700 per block face of about 300 feet, curb to building line, one side. Basis: two workers for one shift of about seven hours at about $45 an hour each plus steam gear, water recovery and supplies, about $100 a crew hour; proposed, to verify against the payer's unit price. - Likely payer: LA Sanitation and Environment (Clean Corridors) for corridor routes, or a business improvement district clean team (downtown: the DTLA Alliance Clean Team). In their words: specialized pressure washing and litter removal (LASAN on the $300,000 grant for the DTLA Clean Streets expansion); sidewalk wash-downs (the DTLA Alliance Clean Team's own count). - No license is needed. - No permit is needed; written permission from the owner, the BID or the City contract for the walk.

Fund it for $700. The receipt lands onchain once the proof is approved.

What it looks like
Two workers in hi-vis vests and goggles steam black gum spots off a Los Angeles sidewalk with a hand steam lance while a third follows with a wet vacuum; the dark spots come up pale.

This job is not funded yet, so this figure is a proposed price, not money held for the worker. If a buyer funds it, approved proof settles that price onchain. If nobody funds it, approved proof earns provable credit toward the work instead of cash: recorded, and readable any time at vealth.net/labor/credit/(your wallet). You see which before you claim, never after.

How this work is done

How this work is done

A documented method, so this packet comes out the same whoever does it.

Bring

  • hand steam lance or a low pressure hot water washer
  • long handled gum scrapers and putty knives
  • wet vacuum and a holding tank
  • storm inlet drain covers and berms
  • cones, a sign and hi-vis vests
  • eye protection, heat resistant gloves and waterproof boots
  • contractor bags and a scale or a bag counter
  • chalk, tape measure, camera and GPS phone

Steps

  1. Walk the block face with the crew lead, photograph it wide from both ends, and chalk two test patches of 100 square feet each.
  2. Count the gum spots in each test patch and record both counts with a photo of each patch.
  3. Set cones on the walk side of every curb cut and driveway and cover every storm inlet downhill of the work with a drain cover and a berm. Do not start if a cone or a person would stand in a parking, bike or travel lane unless a trained flagger (Title 8 section 1599) or the City's approved traffic control plan is in place.
  4. Scrape the loose gum by hand with a long handled scraper and bag the scrapings.
  5. Lift the bonded gum with low pressure hot water or a steam lance, held at the angle and distance the equipment maker gives, one spot at a time.
  6. Vacuum up all wash water as you go and carry it to the disposal point the owner, the BID or the City contract names.
  7. Stop at any belongings, tent, bedding, needle, plaque or stamped paving: photograph it from where you stand and file it on MyLA311.
  8. Count the gum spots again in the same two test patches and photograph both, then the whole block face from the first vantage points.
  9. Weigh or count the bags of scrapings and record where the wash water and the bags went.

What counts as done

  • Before and after photos of the whole block face from the same two vantage points, each with GPS and time
  • The gum spot count in each 100 square foot test patch before and after, with a photo of each patch
  • Every storm inlet downhill of the work photographed with its cover and berm in place before any water ran
  • The wash water disposal point named and the bags of scrapings weighed or counted
  • The MyLA311 service request number or the City work order this block answers, copied from the request, or none when there is none

Proof is measured against these, not judged by taste.

What is promised, and what is not

Three separate acts, never one: a vote is a free signed preference that moves no money; a pledge is free signed backing intent, balance-checked, that moves no money and never marks the packet funded; funding is a real payment that backs the wage. Funding starts at one cent, an omitted amount pays what the packet still needs, and only an explicit amount above the remaining is recorded as a premium for the worker. Money settles only on accepted proof. An agent can fund it in one x402 call: POST /nurture/fund {"workId":"WORK_1792510701507_pzg3tih","funderWallet":"0xYOU"}.

Claiming is free. You sign to prove the wallet is yours: no card, no deposit, no fee. Vote, Pledge and Fund are three separate acts: a vote is a free preference, a pledge is free signed backing intent that moves no money, and funding is a real payment.

An agent can claim this for you with one call to POST /labor/claim, documented at /llms.txt.

Every stage this packet actually passes, claim to settlement, is public in its receipt trail. A stage that has not happened is not claimed.

Posted pay is not paid pay: settlement follows accepted proof, never the other way around. Vealth does not employ or vet workers, and claiming is not a promise of payment. See how proof and receipts work.

Other acts: vote, pledge, fund
