Act 1 is how a Regen credit retirement resolves today when no wallet is pre-configured, by Regen's own documented API behavior. Act 2 is this concept: instead of (or alongside) buying an already-issued credit, an agent funds and verifies the field work that a credit depends on, settled on-chain immediately, no liquidity dependency, no human checkout required.

This is Regen's own documented, honest behavior, not a bug we found. Without a pre-funded wallet and live matching liquidity, the API gracefully falls back to a link a person finishes with a credit card. It's a fine design for a subscriber offsetting their own AI footprint. It is not a path an autonomous agent can complete end-to-end on demand.

1 · Name the work behind the credit
Take a real, already-registered Regen project (say, one of the 85 active projects on the network as of 2026-08-18) and its next MRV need: a monitoring visit, a planting-verification walk, a boundary photo set.
2 · Fund the packet over x402: no liquidity, no wallet setup, no human checkout
Any x402-aware agent, including one already running npx regen-compute, pays a bounded amount and the packet exists. No sell-order dependency, no "try again later."
4 · Settlement is a receipt anyone can check, and evidence a registry can use
Approved, settled on Base mainnet. The receipt is permanent and public, attachable alongside the credit's existing MRV record, not instead of it.
