How this work is done

Steps

1. Adopt a run of six or more tree pits and remove trash, weeds, and compacted debris by hand.
2. Loosen the top few inches of soil with a hand cultivator without cutting roots.
3. Spread wood-chip mulch 3 inches deep, keeping it clear of each trunk.
4. Water each living tree slowly with 10 or more gallons.
5. Photograph each pit before and after with the storefront or block behind it.
