What the work involves

The same lot, once surveyed, still has dumped debris and bare compacted soil blocking any real use by the families in the surrounding blocks, and Scampia has some of Naples' thinnest tree canopy. Clearing it and putting the first trees in turns a dead lot into shade and a gathering spot.

  2. Break up any compacted bare soil with a hand tool.
  3. Plant 2-3 young shade trees or shrubs suited to the local climate.
  4. Water them in well and mulch around the base.
  5. Photograph the finished lot from the same vantage as the before photo.
