How this work is done

Steps

  1. Walk the block at the hottest part of the day and note where shade exists and where it doesn't.
  2. Photograph any bare, sun-exposed public seating or gathering spots.
  3. Note the nearest public water source, if any.
  4. Record surface type (pavement, grass, bare dirt) at 3-4 points.
  5. Log the findings with a simple heat-risk rating for the crew that follows.

What counts as done

  • Photos of shaded and unshaded spots
  • GPS pin with date/time and time-of-day noted
  • Written heat-risk note
