Vegetative barriers are one of the few near-road defenses with real evidence behind them. Each hosted hedgerow row is a family-scale air filter that grows stronger every year.

Steps

  1. Mark the planting line with the host inside the corridor-facing fence.
  2. Dig holes and plant 8 to 12 drought-tolerant evergreen shrubs.
  3. Stake as needed and water each in deeply.
  4. Mulch the row and agree the watering schedule with the host.
  5. Photograph the finished row with GPS and date and record species and count.
