What the work involves

Los Laureles Canyon, the binational watershed that carries stormwater and sediment from Tijuana neighborhoods down toward the Tijuana River Estuary, loses topsoil fast wherever bare hillside has no root structure to hold it. Native, deep-rooted shrubs planted on the gentle, already-stable terraces near the canyon rim slow that runoff at the source. This work stays on flat, stable ground, never the steep, active slide faces.
