Steps

1. 1. Photograph the bare, unshaded ground before starting and confirm no buried utility line with an 811 locate.
2. 2. Hand dig the planting pit at the design diameter and depth for the tree pit.
3. 3. Set the native shade tree (such as Shumard oak or swamp chestnut oak) at grade, backfill, and mulch the pit, hand tools only.
4. 4. Water in the new planting and photograph the finished tree pit.
