Bring

• GPS-capable phone (waypoint and photos are both required)
• note-taking app or paper for impact accounts
• camera
• internet access for the program and intake lookup (city portal, county or state database, federal program atlas)
• a copy of the posted intake criteria (SDG, lane, named intake target)

Steps

1. 1. Navigate to the named location, confirm GPS is inside the posting radius, and record the waypoint.
2. 2. Check in with whoever is responsible for the building before documenting anything: the facility manager, site staff, or the organization that programs the space. A civic building has custodians and access rules, and an unannounced person photographing it is a security incident rather than an intake.
3. 3. Photograph the current state of the unmet need (the gap, the condition, the absence) with a clear timestamp. The photo must show what is missing or failing, not a streetview-style shot of the building.
4. 4. Document the impact through the people the place actually serves: record at minimum one first-hand account from someone who uses the building or works in it, and note the population affected (visitors per day, students, staff, the surrounding blocks the facility serves) and the primary harm (health risk, access barrier, safety hazard, environmental degradation).
5. 5. Map the need to a named SDG target: record the SDG number and target, and confirm the need matches that target's scope.
6. 6. Identify the vertical lane the work belongs to (buildings, food, water, urban canopy, or the appropriate ecological lane) and state which existing protocol work type would provision the solution.
7. 7. Record the named intake target and, for a public building, the route that actually exists: which department owns the asset, whether it belongs in a capital request or a work order, and any program reference or case number. A civic building's problem usually has an owner of record, and naming the wrong one is why intakes die.
8. 8. Compile the intake record (GPS, photos, SDG tag, impact accounts, lane, named intake target and reference numbers) and sign it as the identifying worker.

• Measurement or estimate of the gap (distance/count/condition)
• Community impact note: resident or business input on who is affected
• Named intake target (city department, council office, or nonprofit intake)
• SDG tag with city/census tract
