- 1. Confirm the pit's location with the general contractor's site supervisor, sited away from any storm drain, ditch, or slope that drains toward one.
- 2. Dig a shallow pit to the confirmed size, well clear of any below grade utility marked by an honored locate.
- 3. Line the full pit with a continuous, unpunctured plastic liner running up and over the berm on every side, with no gap or seam left uncovered.
- 4. Post a weatherproof "CONCRETE WASHOUT ONLY" sign at the pit.
- 5. Photograph the lined, signed, empty pit before its first use.
