Steps
- 1. Walk the resident's own yard with the resident and select a planting spot at least 15 feet from the home's foundation and clear of overhead/underground utilities; photograph the bare spot before planting.
- 2. Dig the planting hole by hand at the correct depth for the root ball and set the tree so the root flare sits at grade.
- 3. Backfill, water in thoroughly, and mulch 2 to 3 inches deep, holding mulch off the trunk, and form a watering basin.
- 4. Photograph the finished planting from the matching before vantage and record the species and planting distance from the home.
